Air travel has turned into a nightmare ordeal these days with frequent delays, long check-ups, all sort of crazy rules to what to carry blah blah blah... the list can go on and never end. But here's one airport that I would die to be stuck or stranded in transit. The new Richard Rogers (of the Pompidou Centre fame with Renzo Piano) designed Barajas International Airport in Madrid is open for the likes of the transit imagination of travellers.
And it has won the prestigious Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) prize (the equivalent of the architecture Oscar). Makes it one of the best gateways into Spain. All the more reason to head to Madrid and revel in its glory.
